Circus of Power embodied New York’s sleaze-rock scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The band’s music and image carried a sharp edge that, while similar to many post-gutter outfits across the country, reflected its New York City roots. The group found modest commercial success with its self-titled debut in 1988 and released two more albums before disbanding in 1995. Vocalist Alex Mitchell re-formed Circus of Power in the 2010s with a new lineup and released “Four” in 2017. The band followed with the “Process of Illumination” EP three years later.
